Reinstalar o sistema operacional por meio de um USB inicializável tem a vantagem de não precisar formatar o disco. Basta inserir o USB na porta dedicada e reiniciar o computador.

Embora existam diversas ferramentas para criar pendrives inicializáveis, a maioria delas depende do kernel do sistema operacional, que precisa acessar a mídia de armazenamento física como fonte. A ideia por trás do programa é diferente e consiste em salvar as informações na memória de execução antes da inicialização.
