Os Saxon são uma banda inglesa de heavy metal formada na região de South Yorkshire em 1976. A banda foi fundada por Graham Oliver e Steve Dawson e incorporou alguns elementos de uma outra banda local, os Coast, que trazia Biff Byford nos vocais e Paul Quinn na guitarra. Com esta formação a banda mudou o seu nome, passando a chamar-se apenas Saxon.
A banda iniciou-se tocando em clubes e pubs na Inglaterra, teve as suas primeiras composições lançadas em demo-tapes. Ainda hoje se encontram em actividade.
