James é uma banda inglesa da cidade de Manchester que foi formada em 1981. A banda teve os seus maiores êxitos durante a década de 90, entre eles incluem-se hits musicais que marcaram gerações como Sit Down, Laid, Say Something, Born Of Frustration, Sometimes entre outros.
Já no novo século atingiram alguma notoriedade com o single Getting Away With It (All Messed Up).
Em 2001 o seu vocalista Tim Booth decidiu abandonar a banda e, com excepção de um ou outro concerto esporádico, a mesma ficou inactiva.
Em 2007 a banda regressou ao activo com uma nova tournée e um novo álbum de compilações Fresh as a Daisy - The Singles. A 7 de Abril de 2008 saiu o novo CD, Hey Ma.
Até à data a banda vendeu mais de 25 milhões de cópias de discos em todo o mundo.
