Os Reformados da Investigação

The Beautiful South foi uma banda de rock inglesa formada no final da década de 80 por dois ex-membros dos The Housemartins, Paul Heaton e Dave Hemingway. A dupla foi inicialmente acompanhada por Sean Welch (baixo), Stead Dave (bateria) e Dave Rotheray (guitarra), todos eles ficaram com o grupo durante toda a sua carreira de 19 anos. Adições posteriores incluíram a vocalista Briana Corrigan, sendo substituída por Jacqui Abbott, que por sua vez foi substituída por Alison Wheeler.
O grupo separou-se em janeiro de 2007, alegando que a separação foi devido a "semelhanças musicais", tendo vendido cerca de 6,5 milhões de discos em todo o mundo.
Em janeiro de 2009, foi anunciado que os antigos membros Dave Hemingway, Alison Wheeler e Stead Dave iriam reformar a banda com o nome de New Beautiful South, que mais tarde foi mudado para The South.
