Cantor e compositor inglês nascido a 31 de Janeiro de 1961, em Buxton, Derbyshire. Com os Commotions - Neil Clark (n. 1955; guitarra), Blair Cowan (teclas), Lawrence Donegan (n. 1961; baixo) and Stephen Irvine (n. 1959; bateria) - atingiu assinalável destaque nos anos 80, através dos álbuns Rattlesnakes (1984), Easy Pieces (1985) e Mainstream (1987). Temas como "Perfect Skin", "Lost Weekend", "Brand New Friend", "My Bag", "Jennifer, She Said" e "From The Hip"
tornaram-se autênticos hinos da pop .
Em 1988 mudou-se para Nova Iorque, iniciando carreira a solo. Em 1990 editou o álbum homónimo de estreia, que incluiu os êxitos "No Blues Skies" e "A Long Way Down". Outros trabalhos confirmaram-no como compositor talentoso: Don't Get Weird On Me, Babe (1991), que incluiu os temas "Man Enough", "She's A Girl And I'm A Man" e "Weeping Wine"; Bad Vibes (1993), do qual fez parte "So You'd Like To Save The World"; Love Story (1995), que incluiu "Like Lovers Do". Em 1999 foi editado The Collection , uma retrospectiva da carreira do cantor a solo e com os Commotions. O disco incluiu dois temas novos: "Fool You Are" e "That Boy".
Lloyd Cole atingiu grande popularidade no nosso país, onde já actuou por diversas vezes.
