Plot outline:

Plot outline:
Wealthy businessman Ross Webster discovers the hidden talents of Gus Gorman, a mischievous computer genius. Ross decides to abuse his talents, in a way to help Webster with his plans for economic control. When the man of steel interferes, something must be done about Supes. When Gus' synthetic Kryptonite fails to kill Superman, it turns him in an evil incarnation of his former self. The tar-laced Kryptonite pits man against himself, setting up the Clark vs. Superman battle.

Plot outline:
Superman does a lot in his newest adventure. Archvillain Lex Luthor, determined to make the world safe for nuclear arms merchants, creates a new being to challenge the Man of Steel: the radiation-charged Nuclear Man. The two super-powered foes clash in an explosive screen extranvaganza that sees Superman save the Statue of Liberty, repulse a volcanic eruption of Mount Etna, rebuild the demolished Great Wall of China and perform many more spetactular feats.

Plot outline:

1. Superman originalmente era um vilão careca
Certamente é difícil de acreditar, mas Jerry Siegel e Joe Schuster, criadores do último filho de Krypton, lançaram o personagem em 1933 no comics "The Reign of the Super-Man" como um vilão careca, com desejos de dominar o mundo e com o poder de controlar a mente das pessoas. Felizmente, a história não foi popular e o personagem foi repensado mais tarde como um super-herói. No entanto, é difícil de não fazer a conexão deste conceito com o próprio arqui-inimigo de Superman, Lex Luthor.

2. Superman não nasceu com superpoderes
Os críticos do homem de aço sempre argumentaram que ele é ilimitado e invencível, exceto claro quando está perto de kryptonite. Mas isso não é verdade. Superman não nasceu super. Além disso, Superman já enfrentou vários seres alienígenas e inimigos super-humanos cuja força já rivalizaram com a dele e que foram capazes de feri-lo. Ele também é vulnerável a magia.

3. O "S" no seu peito não significa apenas "Superman".
A explicação para o símbolo de Superman já foi alterada várias vezes. A maioria acredita que o S é de Superman, mas é também o brasão de sua família kryptoniana (a casa dos El), que pode ser vista na sua nave, em sua manta e na roupa de Jor-el. É também o símbolo da "esperança", conforme foi explicado na série de quadrinhos Superman: Birthright (Superman: Legado das Estrelas). Colocar o símbolo de cabeça para baixo estranhamente resulta no símbolo kryptoniano de "ressurreição". O S também foi usado como shield (escudo, em inglês) em algumas interpretações. Também foi o que inspirou Lois Lane a chama-lo de Superman. Em off, o símbolo presta uma homenagem aos dois criadores do personagem, Jerry Siegel e Joe Schuster.

4. Batman e Superman são melhores amigos
Ambos os heróis já se encontraram em diversos quadrinhos e tiveram que juntar suas forças para derrotarem ameaças ao nosso planeta. Ambos também fazem parte da Liga da Justiça. Nos anos 90, Superman e Lois se casaram, e Bruce Wayne é dono da casa onde o casal vive – um presente de casamento do famoso bilionário. Bruce também mais tarde comprou o Planeta Diário, onde Lois e Clark trabalham. Na terceira edição de Superman/Batman, Batman faz a seguinte observação, "É uma dicotomia notável. De muitas maneiras, Clark é o mais humano de todos nós. E ainda assim ... ele atira fogo dos céus, e é difícil não pensar nele como um deus. E como todos nós somos afortunados que isso não passa na cabeça dele." (tradução livre)

5. Que dizer da kryptonite?
Todos já vimos a rocha verde brilhosa que deixa Superman de joelhos. A kryptonite é composta de resquícios minerais da destruição de seu planeta natal, Krypton. Existem diferentes tipos de kryptonite, sendo os mais populares:
kryptonite verde
Exposição à radiação da kryptonite verde faz com que Superman perca seus poderes, causando dor e náusea, que pode potencialmente levá-lo a morte. A única substância na Terra que pode protegê-lo da radiação é chumbo, a única coisa que Superman não pode ver através. A kryptonite verde é também completamente inofensiva para humanos (embora a série Smallville tenha mudado este conceito ligeiramente).
kryptonite vermelha
Ela é criada quando a kryptonite verde passa por uma "estranha nuvem cósmica" que eventualmente chegou a Terra. Esta rocha tem estranhos efeitos no comportamento de Superman – geralmente resultando em alucinações e transformando-o em vilão.
kryptonite dourada
Esta remove permanentemente os poderes de Superman, destruindo a habilidade principal de suas células kryptonianas de processar a energia solar.
kryptonite azul
É a fraqueza de Bizarro, o clone maligno de Superman. Além de feri-lo, esta tem propriedades benéficas aos kryptonianos, como curar e proteção contra a kryptonite verde.

6. A história de Superman é baseada na história de Jesus
Os pais adotivos de Superman, Martha e Jonathan Kent, representam respectivamente Mary (Maria) e Joseph (José); de fato, o nome original de Martha era Mary e o nome do meio de Jonathan continua Joseph. O nome da família de Superman, El, é uma palavra hebraica para Deus. Da mesma forma que a história de Cristo, El (Deus) o pai envia o filho para Terra, para ser o protetor da mesma e "para mostrar-lhes o caminho". Clark, assim como Cristo, viaja sozinho para uma região remota (Clark para o Ártico e Cristo para o deserto) e aos 30 anos de idade ele se torna Superman, a mesma idade que Jesus começou a ministrar.
